A Hundred Years of the War on Drugs

Hari began writing this book with a question: after a hundred years of the war on drugs around the world, why hasn't the drug problem disappeared, and why has it instead brought more violence and suffering? He spent more than three years traveling to nine countries, interviewing drug enforcement officials, addicts, dealers, scientists, and policymakers. His conclusion: punishing drugs as crime may do more harm than the drugs themselves. Through the stories of real people, the book re-examines the history and consequences of drug prohibition policy.
