- 約翰・薩爾諾 (John E. Sarno)，紐約大學醫學院復健醫學教授，在紐約大學拉斯克復健醫學研究所行醫四十多年，治療過約一萬名病人
- 1984 年提出「緊張性肌炎症候群」（TMS）的概念，前後出版四本相關著作，本書 1991 年出版
- 2017 年 6 月過世，享年九十三歲
