    Who is the author?

    • 索甲仁波切 (Sogyal Rinpoche, 1947–2019),出生於西藏東部的康區,被大師蔣揚欽哲・確吉羅卓認定為轉世喇嘛並撫養長大,後來在印度德里大學求學,1971 年到英國劍橋大學三一學院研究比較宗教。1974 年起在倫敦傳法,1979 年把他的佛法中心命名為「本覺會」(Rigpa)
    • 本書 1992 年出版,由他多年來數百小時的講課錄音整理而成,編輯派屈克・加夫尼與安德魯・哈維協助整理,有些章節修改了二十五次。全書印行超過三百萬冊,譯成 34 種語言,在 80 個國家發行,達賴喇嘛為本書寫序
    • 書中的教法被用來推動「靈性關懷」教育計畫,訓練了數千名醫護人員,對德國等地的安寧照護運動有所影響
    • 2017 年,八位資深弟子聯名寫信,指控索甲仁波切長期對學生施以身體、性與心理上的虐待,他隨後辭去本覺會的領導職務;2018 年本覺會委託英國律師事務所進行的獨立調查認為多數指控屬實。讀者閱讀本書時,可以把作者的行為與書中整理的傳統教法分開看待。中文版書名《西藏生死書》
