Sail to TasmaniaMany people pray, meditate, make vision boards and say affirmations every day, yet still can't manifest the life they want. The author believes the problem is often overattachment: falling into “manic manifesting,” believing the more you do, the more you get. This overexertion comes from fear and control, and actually blocks manifesting.
The book is organized into 11 spiritual principles to follow step by step, with tools such as the 3-step Choose Again method, clearing the 7 blocks, and a meditation to clear the fog.
Society teaches us that happiness is a “reward after suffering”; the author says that's wrong: you deserve to feel good without any reason or condition. Making happiness your first priority is where manifesting begins.
When things feel off, use these three steps to realign right away:
The author's example: launching her book Judgment Detox, she was overwhelmed, her mind repeating “If I don't do it, no one will.” She took on more and more and asked for help less and less, spiraling down—the thought itself was creating the reality she feared.
Emotions have higher and lower frequencies: fear, grief, despair, jealousy, anger and shame sit at the low end; joy, gratitude, freedom, love and passion at the high end.
The author cites Abraham-Hicks' scale, which ranks emotions from low to high in 22 levels. Jumping straight from fear to joy is hard, but moving up one rung is doable, for example:
Fear → Worry → Discouragement → Hopefulness → Optimism → Joy
The method is to honestly find which rung you're on now, then use thoughts, activities or interactions to move up one small step at a time.
The author walks readers through the 7 blocks—psychological traps where fear dams up manifesting power, such as limiting beliefs about lack, fear of rejection, comparison and envy, and the fear that “good things can't last.”
Envy comes from the fear that “there isn't enough to go around.” In her classes, the author often meets accomplished students from all walks of life asking, “Who am I to do this?” Behind that question is fear.
Children naturally sense a world beyond the material, but as we grow up we build a wall between the material and the spiritual. A Course in Miracles calls the belief that we are separate from the universe the Tiny Mad Idea; this sense of separation sustains fear, judgment and trauma, and cuts us off from intuition and guidance.
The author's example: invited to speak at Oprah's SuperSoul Sessions, she was very nervous facing the big stage. Instead of white-knuckling it, she silently asked her late spiritual mentor Wayne Dyer to be with her; after handing over some control, she gave the talk smoothly.
Manifesting isn't passive waiting; it's taking spiritually aligned action while letting go of control.
The author's example: she really wanted to be in The New York Times Sunday Styles section. After mentioning it once to a reporter she knew, she went back to focusing on teaching and speaking and didn't chase it. A few months later, the paper called her for an interview.
She wanted to become a mother, but years of trying didn't work. For a while she tried to control the outcome through diet and ovulation tracking, which only increased her anxiety. Through prayer and meditation she learned to surrender her timeline and trust the universe, and became pregnant in 2018.
When everything starts going well, fear often shows up in a new form: “Is this too good to be true?” “What if it all falls apart?” The author admits that when her career, relationship and pregnancy were all going well, a friend's remark still sent her into anxiety.
This belief that “good things don't last” is itself a block to manifesting. How to respond:
The book's conclusion: stop forcing, learn to let go, keep feeling good and keep practicing, and your ideal life will come true at the right time.
