    A Journalist's Turn

Jon Krakauer is known for bestsellers about people struggling against nature, such as Into the Wild and Into Thin Air. NPR's report notes that he calls himself an obsessive person, and this time the obsession came from a young woman close to him: only in her twenties, with her career going well, did she tell him that she had been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance when she was a teenager. Krakauer was deeply shaken and began to study the subject of "acquaintance rape," which finally became this book, Missoula, published in 2015.
