Who is the author?
- 赫曼・赫塞 (Hermann Hesse, 1877–1962)，德國出生、後入籍瑞士的作家，1946 年獲諾貝爾文學獎
- 他的外祖父和父母都曾在印度傳教，他從小接觸印度文化；1911 年曾到亞洲旅行。第一次世界大戰後，他陷入精神危機，深入研讀《奧義書》與《薄伽梵歌》，寫下本書
- 本書 1922 年出版，分為兩部，第一部獻給法國作家羅曼・羅蘭，第二部獻給他的表兄威廉・袞德特；1950、60 年代在美國掀起閱讀熱潮。中文版書名多譯為《流浪者之歌》或《悉達求道記》
- 1922 年出版，依本站分類屬於 1950 年以前的經典小說
