- 張忠謀，1931 年生於浙江鄞縣，童年在戰亂中輾轉香港、上海等地
- 麻省理工學院機械系學士、碩士，史丹佛大學電機博士；在美國德州儀器服務二十五年，官至集團副總裁
- 1985 年應邀來台擔任工研院院長，1987 年創辦台積電，2018 年退休
- 上冊記錄 1931 至 1964 年，約十萬字；下冊記錄 1964 至 2018 年，近二十萬字，2024 年 11 月由天下文化出版
