Who is the author?
- 瑪麗・史托普斯 (Marie Stopes, 1880–1958)，生於英國愛丁堡，古植物學家，在德國慕尼黑取得博士學位，是英國最早在大學擔任科學講師的女性之一
- 她的第一段婚姻因為從未圓房而被宣告無效，這段經驗讓她意識到，當時的人們對性與婚姻普遍無知
- 本書英文原名 Married Love，1918 年出版，出版後大為暢銷；同年她又出版談避孕的《明智的父母》
- 1921 年，她在倫敦開設英國第一家避孕診所；她同時也是優生學的支持者，這部分思想至今仍飽受批評。中文版書名《性的尊重》
